Question #1:

How to open a longboard shop?

About a week ago I used one of my old modern day skateboard decks and turned it into a whole 'nother thing and people are always complimenting it and saying "Where did you get it?" and they don't believe me when I say I made it. And I had a lot of fun making it. I'm not expecting the business to be big like the other skateboard companies, but I would like making extra money for college. And I'm only 16 and I don't like standing behind a counter taking peoples orders for 7 hours.
I love to cruise around and I know what feels good and what boards have the best durability since I'm a rider myself and I've been skating for 5 years both cruising and doing tricks.
How could I start out with making it a business?

Question #2:

Question #4:

Help me with skateboard sizing? Tall.?

Hey. So, I used to skate when I was 15-16, wasn't that great, but I could ollie and drop in and such. Anyway, I've been riding a longboard around campus for the last year, but lately I've been thinking it might be fun to get a shortboard again, but I'm not sure of what size to get since I'm a bit taller than average. I'm 6'3 and 200 lbs, size 13 mens shoe. I doubt I'll be landing any ridiculous flip tricks any time soon, so I wouldn't mind a wider board, I just don't know anything about board sizing.

Also, I'm not looking to drop a lot of cash since I might go back to the longboard once I get frustrated from sucking at the shortboard. I was looking on CCS and this board is pretty cheap ($60) and the description says something about being designed for beginners. What do you think?

Question #6:

Is Business Administration/Management the same as Entrepreneurial Studies ?

I am 13 years old, and a freshman in high school. I really want to start my own buisness and open up my own store one day. When I was 11, I started skateboarding and automatically had a passion for it. My passion for it grew so much over the years, and I was thinking about starting my own skateboard shop. I was recently researching what different universities in california offer a major that would suit me, which i found out was entrepreneurial studies, since it gives you the skills you need to start your own business. But the only college that i found that offered that major was University of San Francisco, and when I went onto their school website, i found that i really didn't like the school itself... I want to go to a UC instead because my high school has application fee waivers for up to 5 UC's. But the only thing is, is that the major all the UC's have that is closest to entrepreneurial studies is business administration/management. I was just wondering that if I happened to go to a UC and major in business administration/management, if i would still be able to learn the skills i need to start my own business, not just work for an existing company.
so should i just major in business administration/management ?? i haven't made any investments yet..

Question #7:

An experience on board shops and your opinions.?

This isn't me.It's someone else's story that I found.Summarised a little bit.

"In sheer desperation to find a job, I applied to Zumiez. While waiting, there's a kid wanting a longboard, but the salesman keeps pushing an element SKATEBOARD towards him.He gets a longboard in the end,but with inappropriate trucks and wheels.
He asks the guy to put griptape on it.The sales guy takes the grip tape, lays it over the board, and uses a pair of scissors to cut the edges off. No screwdriver around the edge, no razor, nothing, a pair of craft scissors he probably uses to cut tags off of clothes. He butchers the job.The kid is about to cry and his mother has no idea what the hell she's doing, so she just hands over her Visa to the guy and he rings up the board.
I feel for the kid, bad. He's pretty much crying.I buy a sheet of griptape from a sporting goods store and find the kid and his mother later in the mall. Probably too blunt, I tell her and the kid that the guy back there did a horrendous job on the grip tape and I'm a skateboarder too, so I'd be happy to do it for free"

So,any bad experiences in Zumiez or other bad board shops?

Question #10:

Should I start BMX, tips please?

I currently skateboard and I see people doing bike tricks at the skate park all the time. I still want to skateboard, but I would like to do BMX too. If someone could give me some tips on starting up with BMX, that would be awesome. Here's what I need to know:

Cost of a bike: New or used, possible to get one for under 300 USD?

Kind of Bike (brand): The brands that my local bike shop have are Trek's BMX, free agent, and Eastern (which at the moment seems like the best option)

Where to get quality parts: Normal bike shop, online, or a BMX shop. The bike shop is the closest, the BMX shop is about half hour away

and this is just a few of them that Answerbag has that Y!A doesnt have. Everything that Y!A has, Answerbag has plus hundreds more. What do you think of Y!A having such a lack of categories to go to?
ALL OF THESE ARE THEIR OWN SEPARATE CATEGORIES OR SUBCATEGORIES.
and this is just a SMALL FRACTION of what Answerbag has that Y!A doesnt have!
Shouldnt Yahoo start adding a lot more sections to this website so people could ask and find things more accurately? Theres simply not enough sections so people with the same interests can talk about.

Isnt what Answerbag did much better? They dont have permanent suspensions and have all the freedom of speech.
Every country has its own section on Answerbag while Y!A still doesn't have one for Haiti.
and these are NOT ALL the sections and subcategories that Answerbag has that Y!A doesnt that i just listed. there are TONNNSSS more!!!
yes they have a furniture section! They even have subcategories for couches, chairs, recliners, tables, draws and everything. its crazy!

Question #15:

Im starting a skate shop.?

I am planning to start a skate shop where one is badly needed and where there are ALOT of skaters. And then if the skate shop goes well i plan to make a skatepark near the skate shop location. So if you need a skateshop in your hometown or you know a city/town that badly needs one and you know that alot of people skateboard in that city/town here is your chance to get a skate shop and or park. Thanks.

Question #16:

What do you think of my email asking for a job?

Dear Mr/Mrs ******,

Excuse me for such an impersonal method of communication however I would like to enquire about there being a slight chance of a vacancy for work at pipedreams? I am a 14 year old (Birth date: **********) male who is looking for possibly a job after school or on the weekends or in holidays, whenever really. I would be happy to be flexible on my hours should you choose to consider me and would be flexible about pay etc. As it stands I have been into your shop on several occasions (Once to buy a poison complete skateboard, once to buy a fracture studded belt, and once to buy a Fracture deck) because as it happens I myself do actually skate (Skill level is debatable!)
I chose to enquire about a possible position in your shop because on the occasions I have been in there I have been most impressed by both of your help, assistance and friendly attitude towards customers! Also I thought it would fit my demeanour considering my attitude towards skating etc.
I would like to think of myself as sociable and a good problem solver, I am pretty good with numbers and am willing to rise up to any challenge that presents itself to me. I am quite entrepreneurial, having started numerous 'businesses' selling sweets etc to friends at school previously, however I have now decided it would now be more appropriate (Especially seeing as I am now of the legal age to do so) to pursue a career in a real shop for the time being. So far my ambitions in life are to be a doctor or surgeon (Or something along those lines) so I also need to begin saving money for university fees etc
I sincerely hope you consider my proposition and apologise for anything that I may have left out, I would also have proffered to have contacted you on my mobile, however I get extremely bad reception at my house and could not speak to you in person because I currently reside in ******* **********, so it would have been impractical to walk such a long way, to face the prospect of rejection (I hope you can understand)

Yours Faithfully

Aston Jones

Question #20:

I think I have a pretty good idea for a story. Do you like it?

Okay, read the whole thing please =) It doesn't take very long

Well, I came up with the title 'm.e.s.s.love'. The m,e,s, & s standing for the last names of my 4 main characters: Gabriel Mitchel(16 yrs), Alexia Enderlee(15,it'll be in her POV), Jayson Skye(15), & Slater Sparks(16). messlove kind of started out as a password for Alexia's email(lol), but I eventually decided it would work for my title.

The setting is Roscommon, Michigan, Summer 2010. I chose that because that's where I live & I'm only 14 so it's easier to write about.

What I have so far is the character descriptions(they're too long so I'm not gonna write 'em), some other character stuff, lots of memories I'm gonna fit in there somehow, and a few events. I'm still thinking of a climax.

Some of the memories are(not really in order):
*Alexia(Lex) meeting Gabe(@8yrs old), meeting Slater(10yrs), and Jay(12yrs)
*Lex helping Slater(who lives next door) move into his really cool basement when he turned 15(sorry, not gonna describe the basement either lol)
*Slater being all clumsy on the 1st day of middle school(it's gonna be really funny lol)
*Lex & Gabe secretly painting on church walls when they were 9 because pastor said they were too plain(lol)
*Christmas when they were all 13(gonna be more of a serious, happy memory)
*the 4 of them pranking Kris(Lex's older brother) around age 14. (don't know what they did yet but it's gonna be another funny one)
*Lex's 1st date: age 15-almost a year before story starts
*Gabe's parents fighting so much they broke stuff when Lex stayed over. They were 11.

Oh yeah, a few of the secrets that are gonna come out during the story are:
*Jay & Lex's kiss not long after they met(they don't like each other like that anymore, & that was both of their 1st kisses), Gabe's hurt at his parents' fighting(he hides it really well), the fact that Slater really really likes Lex, and that Jay is moving back to California where he used to live(he's gonna tell them closer to the end. At the beginning he already knows but he wants to make this like the best summer ever since he's leaving so he waits to tell them). Oh, and Jay's gonna tell Lex that he's adopted.

Okay, I have to say a LITTLE about the characters(there's a lot more to them than I'm gonna type:
Lex-easygoing, laughs a lot, gets hurt easily sometimes(emotionally), loves people
Slater-really caring, makes people think, super clumsy, loves skateboarding, hides his real feelings sometimes
Jay-funny, loves pranks & making people laugh, hopeful, really outspoken
Gabe-more layed back than the others, blushes flips his hair and looks around when nervous or embarrassed, loves running and basketball, amazing painter

Yeah I probably need a few more flaws, but I'm not going to worry about those right now.

I only have a few sure events so far, but here they are:
-Lex shopping for bikini in mall, Jay(being his hilarious self) putting one on and walking around store in it, Lex & Gabe lauging really hard, & Slater(being his CLUMSY self) knocking over whole rack of swim suits & falling on them
-Jay telling Lex about how he's adopted
-Jay telling the others he's moving at the end of the summer

I have a few other things in mind, but I gotta get them sorted out before I put them down as events
The whole thing is basically about the fact that any kind of love can get really messy, that on earth nothing can be perfect. I guess it's more of a Christiany thing, but it's also about following God and letting go of control and accepting the different things that happen in life; being able to work with them. That's pretty much the plot. Gives me lots of freedom to put whatever I want into the story =)
