Questions about Skateboarding?

Here are some questions that I am concerned about:

1. Do you need "special" shoes to ride a skateboard? (Airwalk)?
2. Do you know any brand named skateboards that are cheap, yet work well?
3. I only have one skateboard park near me (outside one) what will I do during the winter???

I want to skateboard, I was just wondering these things. Any other extra tips for me would help. :)

Why were the guys insecure/intimidated but not my friend?

First off I am a skater girl & love to skateboard. Last week they opened the new skate park in my town. But when I went their I was the only female skater amongst a crowd of boys. The only other girls were their GFs fanning themselves & looking bored. I got alot of unwelcome stares because they knew me as the skater girl, one guy even said why I was there. WTF?! I have every right to skate!

Anyways the only thing that made me feel comfortable was my best friend went with me, & my friend happens to be a guy. The thing is he isn't intimidated by me being a girl or having a girl as a friend. He's just so cool about it & nice, that's why I hang with him. Why were the other guys being such pricks? They make fun of my friend for being with me.

So i went and hung with friends there's my friend named Samy and this hot kid named Matt. well we had gotten to the park and they were sitting there Samy in Matt's arms. i asked if they were dating and hes like h*ll no so I'm like k. well i had been messing around and accidentally made the skateboard hit me in the neck i freaked out for a min cuz i couldn't breath but then i could and i was like my neck is numb and sorta hurts is that normal and Samy's like no and Matt's like come here and ill kiss it better... now he is like a lil man whore but everyone freaked out cuz hes never said that to someone that he wasn't dating... Does this like means that he like me or like wtf?!?! Plz help and sry it was sorta long...

What to do? New boyfriend?

well me and my ex were hanging out after he and bunch of other kids left, there was just me my bff kaylee and richard. We all hung and went to the park when we got there there was sami my bff, hot kid named matt, kc my bff his gf celica or what ever, benj, wyatt, hunter, and preston. well we were hanging and i was playing on a skateboard next thing i knew i was getting off and hit one end as the other end flipped up and hit me in the neck. well i was like woe dude my neck is numb and it hurts is that normal? well everyone was like no... then the hot kid named matt was like come here and ill kiss it better. well i was like im sure u will and got on the table and walked around. well my bff kc was like come here so i bent down and he told me that wyatt likes me and i should ask him out well me and him have been bffs since the beginning of last yr so i was nervous and was like no he has to ask me out and he mouthed something and i screamed nooo... well idk wat to do know cuz hes shy and wont ask me out and i kinda wanna but kinda don't wanna date him but more on urge of wanting to date him... wat to do? BTW sry its so long!!!!

How can I learn how to skate?

I use to have a skateboard when I was about 9 and would skate but now I can't skate anymore (I'm 14 now).. How can I learn how to learn to skate? No tricks yet, just enough skating that I could survive with at a skate park. And I can't get lessons or anything, if they do them lol.. :P Oh, and I'm a girl if that helps.. ? lol :) Thanks

what size skateboard should i get?

I'm 24yrsold 6'1" 330lbs and thinking of taking up skateboarding there are 3 or 4 skate park near my house so i figure i could take up skateboarding to get me out of the house and for exercise. i had a skateboard when i was younger but it got lost in a move. so is there a brand that has stronger boards

Should I start BMX, tips please?

I currently skateboard and I see people doing bike tricks at the skate park all the time. I still want to skateboard, but I would like to do BMX too. If someone could give me some tips on starting up with BMX, that would be awesome. Here's what I need to know:

Cost of a bike: New or used, possible to get one for under 300 USD?

Kind of Bike (brand): The brands that my local bike shop have are Trek's BMX, free agent, and Eastern (which at the moment seems like the best option)

Where to get quality parts: Normal bike shop, online, or a BMX shop. The bike shop is the closest, the BMX shop is about half hour away

Anything else I'd need to know

I can't find this movie!!?

There is a movie made about 7-ish years ago.. James Gandolfini has a small part in it, but I can't find it on his list of movies... maybe because it's embarrassing to him. Anyway, the movie starts out where this kid is on a skateboard going through town, ends up at a skateboard park, sits down, pulls a gun out from his backpack and shoots himself in the head. The movie is kinda twisted and weird, I saw it years ago and can't remember what it's called. There is also another scene where this kid is living with his grandma uses her bathrobe belt in a weird fashion... anyone know what movie I'm thinking of?? Thanks!

Im starting a skate shop.?

I am planning to start a skate shop where one is badly needed and where there are ALOT of skaters. And then if the skate shop goes well i plan to make a skatepark near the skate shop location. So if you need a skateshop in your hometown or you know a city/town that badly needs one and you know that alot of people skateboard in that city/town here is your chance to get a skate shop and or park. I'm sooo jealous of my bestfriend! But why?

okay, so my bestfriend, she was also in another one of my questions. So, she decided to try skateboarding. okay, cool, I guess. I secretly skateboard myself, kinda. I'm not a pro at it. But, anyway, I recently broke up with my ex/still bestfriend, logan. he's everything to me, but I don't think he realizes it. but we're really good friends. anyway, I heard recently she was looking for someone to teach her. (btw, she justtt got her skateboard, and I don't have one anymore) Then, logan told me he was going to teach her. I was okay with it at first, because I knew it would never happen. ...THAT was a mistake. I recently told her that I still really like him, just so she knew, so she would think twice maybe about still letting him teach her. okay, so today I just saw her tweet that said that she was going to be with logan today at 1:30 at our local skate park. wtf!? I'm sooo angry at her right now, and jealous that she would actually do that. Did she forget that I like him? or is it really okay for her to still let him teach her? I just need a good answer. please help :(

I want to start skateboarding again but...?

My mom makes me wear a helmet. and its very embarrassing. I have a airwalk board. my mom gave my other one away. my trucks are to loose. and my board is to heavy to do tricks. Everytime I ask if I can buy myself a new board. She gets mad. And says I can tell you the next thing you gonna obsess over is skateboarding again.
I don't obsess.! Gosh.
How can I get my mom to loosen up on the helmet? Like only have to wear it when I go to a skate park?
Thats part of the reason I started aggressive inline skating..

Should I try to get over him?

I met this guy a while back at a local skatepark. At the time, I was about 16 (although I'm now 17 and legal), and this guy was in his early 20s (I'd guess around 22-24). I didn't really pursue anything as I knew it would be illegal, and also because the age difference seemed a bit much at the time, and I'm just damned shy.

But now, I'm wondering if I should at least pursue a friendship (which might, when I'm older, grow into something more).

At this age, I do have an issue finding good guys, because most of them are too immature for a real relationship. I'm not interested in the teenage dating drama, I'm actually looking for a serious relationship. I'm not saying that I look for older guys for this reason, but it's just as a point of reference here.

Anyways, back to this guy. In short, he's a sweetie. He acted like a complete gentleman towards me (never got a sense of "he just wants in my pants" from him), and he actually seemed a bit interested. He was mature and respectable, and he actually started helping me out with my skateboarding tricks. When I wasn't at the park, he'd ask my brother about me, and he actually said that he missed me at one point.

I don't know if I'm just some idiot girl, and if I should stop fooling myself into thinking that even a friendship is possible, move on. I also don't know if there's some serious potential of any kind here, and if I should gather up a bit of courage and try to go back and talk to him.

I disagree. I'm more ready for a serious relationship than most people my age. And by "serious relationship" I don't mean pregnancies and marriages. I mean real love, fighting for a relationship through hardships.
He's not a bad guy. Actually, most people I've talked to would say that he's a pretty good guy. This guy seems to recognize that the age difference is a problem, and he's been a bit cautious about the whole thing.
Here's my issue here. Both sides are represented: the "get over him" and the "become friends". I know the "get over him" side isn't something to ignore, but nobody ever makes a particularly strong argument for that side.
"He's a creep because he's older than you" does not make a strong argument. Just because I'm 17 doesn't mean that I'm not mature or smart enough to avoid being used. If I was like that, I'd have already tried to sleep with the guy.

I'm being careful and cautious, hence, I'm on here asking. It's not a black and white situation, so don't treat it as such.
I wouldn't call him that immature either. People are always so quick to say that if an older guy so much as looks at a younger girl, he's an immature perv who can't get girls his own age. When that really isn't true. In many cases, it might be, but why should we make assumptions?

Look, I'm not saying that if I decide to NOT just get over him, that I'm immediately going to go back and pursue a relationship. I don't want to jump into a relationship with any guy without really knowing him first. That's really my question here: is a friendship (that may possibly yield more in the future) worth it with this guy, or not?

skateboarder's rights question.?

The other day me and my mates were outside my apartment in a public park skateboarding, which was entirely empty from the time apart from 1 or 2 people. one pathway leads to the street at a downward sloping angle so its great to ride down than finish by transferring to the streets. My friend was doing just that when a police officer pulled up to him and said he could not skateboard on the streets or on the sidewalk. I am absolutely sure there are no visible signs anywhere prohibiting skateboarding, or in our case longboarding. I have checked the cities laws on skateboarding online and it said nothing about the streets and skateboarding. We are very friendly to police and i make it a duty every time when i get on a skateboard to be kind and courteous to those around me. So we weren't being rowdy and my friend treated the officer with the utmost respect and kindfully said okay. My main question is do i have the right to skateboard on the street in front of my house? or do i have to panic every time i see a police car?
you see here's the thing i don't really care whether you think it is right or not i care if the law allows me to do it if there are no signs nor official laws stating otherwise?

About a week or two ago my friends and I were skateboarding, longboarding, and biking in a parking lot on the south side of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Two people started yelling at us and told us we had to leave because it was private property, so we left (I'm not lieing to seem like a good kid with a better case, this is the %100 truth).

My friend and I decided to split up from the group of three other people we were hanging out with and go beatbox and rap old songs by Eazy-E, Snoop Dogg, NWA, and Tupac. When out of nowhere a police car pulled up right beside us, with the brake calibers burning. They quickly got out and asked us what we were doing. I replied, "We were just hanging out, we were going to go sit over there and rap." The officer then told asked if we had been in the parking lot behind us. we told them yes. They then asked if we had gone into the parkade, and we replied no. they asked for ID and one officer started typing our names into the computer, while the other continued to watch us. We were told to sit on the grass and wait, so we did. (by this time we were told there was a complaint about kids going into the parkade) The officer asked us if we were with anybody else, and we told them yes, three buddies, one from out of town. The officer then asked what was in my backpack, I told him I had some cologne, and a few other things, I couldn't exactly remember. The cop then asked if he could see, so I agreed. (I know I could have said no, but I really just didn't want to deal with this guy anymore) So I unzipped my backpack, and he looked in, asking me to pull things out, and I did. (I had a few loose papers that I had never cleaned out of my bag, a Dollorama cap gun frum a school project, two bottles of cologne, a flash USB drive, and a baton) The officer asked to see the baton, swung it out, and said, "You are under arrest for possession of an illigal weapon." He then asked me to stand by the cruiser, so I did, and he placed hand cuffs on me. I then told him I had bought it at Sanfransisco in West Edmonton Mall twice. but he refused to listen. My friend then butted in as I was saying it a third time, and vouched for me saying he was with me. (also the truth) The officer then turned to me and said alright then. meanwhile many other cruisers came and all the officers just stood in a circle and talked for a while. I was told to sit on the grass, where I was eaten alive by mosquitoes. Eventually the officer asked where he could find the other people we were with, and we tried calling them, but one of the kids lived across the street, so my friend pointed, and two officers escorted my two friends, and the one friends' parents out. One of the officers was carrying my baton, and my friends dad pointed to me, asked something, and then the officer replied looked at the baton, waved it to him, and then brought it back to his hand. Somewhere along the line we were told that we were being detained for break and enter, and I was under arrest.

Eventually my friends dad asked if My friend and I could get off the grass because the mosquitoes were swarming us. (previously an officer had reached into the trunk of the cruiser infront of us and sprayed himself with mosquitoe reppellant.) Another officer who came out of nowhere said sure, realeased me from my hand cuffs, and let us stand on the cement. The officer that arrested me then came back, said that there were no cars found broken into in the parkade, so we were free to go, and then told me that he was just going to confenscate my baton, and that would be the end of that, a small conversation followed, where I was told not to carry any weapons, becuase they are for empowering the user.

Here is my list of why I want to sue:
1. They had stopped us for no reason, we had never been in the parkade, and if the complaint said we were in the parkade, then they had no reason to hold us.
2. If I was placed under arrest with the intent to be let free, why was I placed in handcuffs. This is public embarrassment.
3. I bought the baton at a store, if it is for sale in a store, how could it be illigal.
4. They took my baton, and didn't arrest me? shouldn't I be getting it back?
5. We were forced to sit on the grass where the mosquitoes were, not even given the choice of standing, or sitting on the cement, or offered mosquitoe repellant. This seems like cruel and unusual punishment.
6. We had been detained for around 15 minutes before they told us why.
7. According to the YCJA (Youth Criminal Justice Act) my identity should be protected if I commited a crime. I'm not %100 sure, but I would assume that one of the officers had told my friends parents that I had committed a crime, and that it was possession of that baton.
8. We were detained for an unreasonable reason. Break and Enter. We were on a parking lot. To me that seems like the best they can do is tresspassing, That aside we left when we were told it

Can I skate on a public pavement? I just moved to a new neighbourhood where there is no local park and was wondering if it is legal to ride on the pavement by my house?

What can I get/make for my boyfriend's 18th birthday?

I read about every single answer to this question that had been posted on other people's question like this. But none of it seemed right for him.
So I'll tell you a little what he's like.
Basically, think of a typical badass/punk/rebel. That's him. But he's not the stereotypical punk. Even though he's never lost a fight, isn't afraid to fight anyone, has been arrested multiple times starting when he was 15, can drink a 30 case and is still able to bullshit the cops, everyone he knows has the highest respect for him because they know they could never take him, etc. But he has another side to him that at least I see. To me, he's the most caring, gentle, protecting, loving man in the world. And he doesn't hide the fact that he's like that towards me in front of his friends. He would never lay a hand on me, he has so much respect for women. When I'm upset, he'll drive the 20 minutes to my house just to hold me and wipe the tears away. When I wanna play, he'll sit down and color with me and run around the yard playing tag with me. We have tickle fights, he'll take me to the animal shelter so we can play with the kittens, and he'll push me on the swings in the park. We chill and party a lot, but every so often he wants to just lay in bed with me and hold me for hours instead.

Anyway, sorry that's long, but I hope it gives you an idea of what kinda person he is.
So far for his birthday in October, I'm getting him a new hat. Because 2 hats ago, that one got stolen. So for Valentines day I got him a new kickass Fox racing one. But it very recently got stolen. And so I have 2 new Famous ones picked out. One for his birthday, one for Christmas. Also, I'm thinking a nice shirt from Hollister. (Since he wears Hollister, skateboarding companies, and band tshirts.) But I don't think just those 2 things are enough, not for his 18th that he's reeeally looking forward to. But I'm only nearly 17 so I don't have an actual job, which means I don't have a ton of money for this. So I was wondering what else I could get/make for him. I can't list like 100 reasons why I love him, because for our year anniversary in November I'm giving him a list of 365 reasons. Along with his favorite cologne and a jacket from Hollister. Oh, and I also was going to get some sexy lingerie to wear for his birthday. But I just feel like something's missing. You know? Cuz I can't take him anywhere since I don't have a license or car yet. And his plans for the night were to take me to a rave, since I've never been.
