Question: Skateboard help please?

Answer #1:

get a longboard skateboard. should get one 35 inches or above. sector 9, santa cruz are good brands to get.

Answer #2:

if you are planning to only skateboard then for comfort get a longboard since you arent doing tricks.. because you said there are a lot of cracks and it is very hard skating a normal skateboard when there are cracks, a longboard makes even really bad surfaces feel surprisingly smooth, not to mention it is a lot easier (a LOT easier) to keep your balance and learn to push. one hard push on a longboard will make you travel a whole city block.. so get a longboard at your skateshop.. doesnt matter what brand as they all produce very similar feel but the brands original and sector 9 are really popular, for all the specifics like board length just ask the people at the skate shop for help

for you, there is literally no point in getting a normal skateboard since you arent going to do any tricks. but, if you do decide to get one all brands wont make much of a difference since you wont have a preference (because of the fact that you aren't doing tricks) since all skateboards ride the same way (they just have different trick feel), but remember to get reds bearings because that is what will help you be able to push your board more easily

also, about what your friend said about gel wheels... all longboard and skateboard wheels are made of the same material which is polyurethane (similar to rubber) so no offense it does not sound like your friend knows what he/she is talking about because any other material would not work for skateboard or longboard wheels, especially gel...?
